It’s that time again – making up for lost time that is! I hope this list of beholder-related plot hooks for every tier of play makes up for a few days of silence. The end of October is getting real busy, but I’m resolved to follow through, if not always on time! (Four tiers counts […]
It’s time for another weekend catch-up! Here are a series of items that beholders may fashion and use for themselves. The Ring of Darkness Deferred is a favorite of every tactically-paranoid beholder, as the one thing they value above all is their sight, their ability to collect knowledge rapidly (and vaporize threats with their deadly […]
A plot hook for a strange town beset by an even stranger…Beholder Playwright?! Use these ideas to both toy with your players, make truly painful puns, and give them the closest thing to the satisfaction of slaying a terrible DM!
Out of all of my work so far, this is the one I most wish I had some good art for. Cower and run in fear, mere mortals! For this cave had much more than kobolds in it, yes yes! Not that kobolds are a weak race by any stretch, merely misunderstood, our strengths lie […]
The template’s still a bit of a mess (not nearly as elegant as I’d hoped – mixing versatile mechanics with simple ones is so tricky!) Getting tired of all those massive beholder-ish stat blocks? How about something fairly simple to run, yet devastating? Well here’s a literal engine of destruction for you Disintegrate lovers, courtesy of the least morally-minded Cannith artificers you’ve ever seen: the Iron Eye.
It’s been a long and busy weekend – now time to catch up! Here’s a new 5e take on a blast from 3e’s past, the Order of the Topaz (including new feat and magic item), and a caustic creation right out of my own decaying brains, the Slime Tyrant!
Time for something a bit different than monster variations – a TRAP! Because if there’s anything beholders love, it’s showing off their genius by killing adventurers when they’re not even present. (Jerks!)
It’s time for something truly EPIC! How does a CR 23 beholder who ate the god of the hydras sound? I’ll just assume from your screaming that it sounds great.
Another double feature due to a missed day! The Ocular Adept (not yet playtested so YMMV), and as a bonus some new Lair actions to spice up your beholder battles!
